Tamale Technical University (TaTU) has been officially announced as the host institution for the 5th Applied Research Conference of Technical Universities of Ghana (ARCTUG 2028).

The announcement was made by the Chairman of the Vice-Chancellors of Technical Universities of Ghana (VCTU-G) and Vice-Chancellor of Sunyani Technical University, Ing. Prof. Kwadwo Adinkrah-Appiah, during the closing ceremony of the 4th Applied Research Conference of Technical Universities of Ghana (ARCTUG 2026) held at Takoradi Technical University on Friday, May 29, 2026.

Describing the announcement as one of the cherished traditions of the conference series, Prof. Adinkrah-Appiah formally entrusted Tamale Technical University with the responsibility of hosting the next edition of the biennial conference, which has become the foremost platform for advancing applied research, innovation, entrepreneurship and industry-academia collaboration among Ghana’s Technical Universities.

“It is my singular honour and privilege, on behalf of the Vice-Chancellors of Technical Universities of Ghana, to officially announce Tamale Technical University as the host institution for the 5th Applied Research Conference of Technical Universities of Ghana (ARCTUG 2028),” he declared to applause from participants.

He congratulated the Governing Council, Management, staff, students, alumni and the entire Tamale Technical University community on what he described as both an honour and a significant responsibility.

Prof. Adinkrah-Appiah noted that Takoradi Technical University had set a high benchmark through its successful hosting of ARCTUG 2026, characterized by excellent organization, strong stakeholder participation, impactful research presentations, innovation exhibitions, industry engagement and exceptional hospitality.

He therefore challenged Tamale Technical University to build upon the legacy established in Takoradi and deliver an even more impactful conference in 2028.

“As Takoradi Technical University has distinguished itself through the exceptional hosting of ARCTUG 2026 and significantly raised the standards of organisation, participation, hospitality, visibility and impact, we charge Tamale Technical University to rise to the occasion and live up to the high expectations and legacy established here in Takoradi,” he stated.

The VCTU-G Chairman expressed confidence that Tamale Technical University would leverage the momentum generated by ARCTUG 2026 to organize a globally visible and memorable conference that would further strengthen the relevance and competitiveness of Technical Universities in Ghana and beyond.

He also called on all Technical Universities, industry partners, researchers, sponsors and development partners to continue supporting ARCTUG as a strategic national platform for promoting applied research, innovation, technology transfer and entrepreneurship development.

With the baton now officially handed over, attention shifts to Tamale Technical University as preparations begin for ARCTUG 2028, which is expected to further deepen collaboration between academia, industry and government.
