Gold Fields Ghana Limited through the Gold Fields Ghana Foundation has become the headline sponsor of the 4th Applied Research Conference of Technical Universities of Ghana (ARCTUG 2026), with a sponsorship package of GH¢200,000.
ARCTUG is a major platform that brings together students, policymakers, academics, industry players, and international partners to showcase applied research and innovations aimed at driving national development.
The 4th edition of ARCTUG will be hosted by Takoradi Technical University from 26th to 29th May 2026 on the theme: “Advancing TVET for Innovation, Technology Transfer and Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Development.”

Speaking on the sponsorship, the Executive Secretary of the Gold Fields Ghana Foundation, Abdel Razak Yakubu, said the objectives of ARCTUG align strongly with Gold Fields’ commitment to investing in the next generation of technicians, innovators, and engineers for industry.
“Gold Fields supports an educational conference on research, innovation, and TVET because it aligns with the Foundation’s core mission of building human capital and driving sustainable development in Ghana, especially within our host communities. Our focus on education, training, and community development is aimed at improving the quality of education and creating long-term socio-economic value,” he stated.
Mr. Yakubu further underscored the importance of research and innovation in addressing emerging national and global challenges.
“Research and innovation help education remain relevant in a fast-changing economy. Gold Fields has already demonstrated this commitment through investments in Smart Labs and Innovation Centres that expose young people to AI, robotics, and digital technologies. We expect this conference to generate practical solutions to some of Ghana’s pressing challenges, particularly in the area of environmental stewardship,” he added.
Responding to the support, the Chairperson of the ARCTUG 2026 Organising Committee, Prof. Maame Afua Nkrumah, expressed appreciation to the Gold Fields Ghana Foundation for its timely intervention and continued commitment to Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Ghana.
She noted that the sponsorship reaffirms Gold Fields’ status as a responsible corporate citizen and a strong partner in advancing applied research and innovation within Ghana’s Technical Universities.
Over 300 research papers are expected to be presented during the conference, alongside innovation competitions involving all ten Technical Universities in Ghana.
