The Western Regional Minister, Joseph Nelson, has warmly welcomed participants to the Applied Research Conference of Technical Universities of Ghana (ARCTUG) 2026 Research Conference, scheduled to take place at Takoradi Technical University from May 25 to 29, 2026.

Speaking ahead of the conference, the Minister expressed excitement over the selection of Takoradi Technical University as the host institution for this year’s event.

“Takoradi Technical University, from its humble beginnings, has made remarkable strides over the years, and today I am delighted that it has been selected to host ARCTUG 2026,” Hon. Joseph Nelson stated.

According to the Minister, the conference represents a significant milestone for both the University and the Western Region. He noted that hosting technical universities from across the country for such an important academic programme is a great honour worthy of celebration.

Hon. Nelson further emphasized the critical role research plays in national development, stressing that research remains a vital tool for innovation and societal progress.

“The value of research cannot be overemphasized in Ghana. Research drives development and helps shape the country’s path toward improving the lives of its people,” he said.

Speaking to TTU’s Directorate of Public Affairs, the Minister observed that Ghana has, over the years, not placed sufficient emphasis on research and innovation. He therefore commended the initiative, noting that the conference would provide an opportunity for research conducted by technical universities to be critically examined, showcased, and appreciated.

Hon. Joseph Nelson further encouraged Ghanaians to appreciate and support the upcoming conference at TTU, adding that both the region and the country stand to benefit greatly from the event if the necessary attention and commitment are given to it.

He concluded by expressing gratitude to the organizers of the programme and officially welcomed all delegates and visitors to the Western Region of Ghana.
