
Sunyani, Ghana – The 22nd Regular Meeting of the Vice-Chancellors of Technical Universities of Ghana (VCTU-G) has officially set the dates for the 2025 Ghana Technical Universities Sports Association (GHATUSA) Games, which will be hosted by Cape Coast Technical University. The announcement marks a key moment for the VCTU-G as it continues to promote unity and healthy competition among Ghana’s Technical Universities. The decision to host the 2025 Games in Cape Coast was ratified during the VCTU-G meeting at Sunyani Technical University.
The 2025 GHATUSA Games will take place from the 3rd to the 13th of April 2025, at four venues across Cape Coast, I.E., the University of Cape Coast Sports Complex, Robert Mensah Stadium, Cape Coast Stadium, and Adisadel College Park. The Games will feature a wide range of sports for both men and women, including football, volleyball, handball, basketball, tennis, athletics, scrabble, netball, badminton, and taekwondo, with over 15,000 participants and spectators, including more than 1,500 athletes and 400 officials.
The GHATUSA Games, a prestigious sporting event that brings together students from all Technical Universities across the nation, is expected to foster camaraderie, promote physical well-being, and highlight the talents of students in various sporting disciplines.
Prof. Kwaku Adutwum Ayim Boakye, Vice-Chancellor of Cape Coast Technical University (CCTU), said, “CCTU is honoured and ready to host the 2025 GHATUSA Games in Cape Coast. It is a significant opportunity for us to showcase not only the athletic talents of our students but also the collaborative spirit of the Technical Universities across Ghana. We are committed to making this event a great success.”
In his remarks, Rev. Prof. John Frank Eshun, Chairman of VCTU-G and Vice-Chancellor of Takoradi Technical University, also noted, “the GHATUSA Games are a vital part of our academic calendar, providing a platform for students to engage in healthy competition, and promote unity among the Technical Universities. We are looking forward to a successful and well-organized event in Cape Coast that will leave a lasting impact on our students and institutions.”
Takoradi Technical University, the defending champions, will look to defend their title after winning the last edition, which was hosted by the Tamale Technical University.
Chairman of the GHATUSA Technical Committee, Titus Nana-Akumasi, along with members Ebenezer Ackwonu Mensah (Sports Coach, TTU) and Mrs. Evelyn Nsiah-Asare (Sports Coach, STU), were present to make the presentation.
