The Vice Chancellors of Technical Universities of Ghana have initiated a landmark programme to enhance the professional and administrative capacity of teaching and non-teaching staff across all Technical Universities. The decision was taken at the 26th Regular Meeting of the Conference at Accra Technical University, where the Conference confirmed that the Capacity-Building Programme would be implemented within each respective institution, in accordance with an approved schedule commencing with Zone-One. The institution-based model is intended to ensure that the training is directly aligned with the specific operational systems, academic structures, and strategic priorities of each Technical University.

Launching the initiative during the Meeting, the Chairman of VCTU-G, Ing. Prof. Kwadwo Adinkrah-Appiah, noted that this intervention forms part of a broader series of strategic activities under VCTU-G’s 2026–2030 Strategic Plan, launched in 2025, aimed at systematically strengthening both academic delivery and administrative performance across the Technical Universities.

He described the programme as a strategic investment in both academic excellence and administrative efficiency. He noted that strengthening the competencies of staff across the universities is central to achieving the transformation agenda outlined in the Conference’s 2026–2030 Strategic Plan. According to him, delivering the programme at the institutional level would promote contextual relevance, enhance teamwork, and ensure practical impact.

Also addressing the Meeting, Dr. Christopher Amehoe, the outgoing Chair of the Committee of Registrars and Directors of Finance, emphasised the importance of strengthening internal systems and professional collaboration. He observed that while academic staff drive teaching, research, and innovation, non-teaching professional and administrative staff provide the governance, financial, regulatory, and operational support that sustains institutional stability and growth.
