Sunyani, Ghana – The theme for the 4th edition of the Applied Research Conference of Technical Universities (ARCTUG) was officially unveiled during the 22nd Regular Meeting of the Vice-Chancellors of Technical Universities of Ghana (VCTU-G), held at Sunyani Technical University from January 26 to January 29, 2025.

Set to be hosted by Takoradi Technical University (TTU), the 2026 Applied Research Conference will carry the theme “Advancing TVET for Innovation, Technology Transfer, and Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Development.” The event is scheduled for May 25–29, 2026, at Takoradi Technical University.

The theme was formally adopted by VCTU-G following a comprehensive presentation by the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) Chair, Prof. (Mrs.) Maame Afua Nkrumah. Prof. (Mrs.) Nkrumah, who is also the Director for Research, Innovation, and Development at TTU, said, “the theme stands to demonstrate the role of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in driving innovation, facilitating the transfer of technology, and fostering entrepreneurship, all of which are essential for achieving long-term, sustainable development in Ghana and beyond.”

Building on the success of previous editions, this conference is expected to continue its tradition of fostering meaningful collaboration across academia, industry, and policymakers.

The 22nd Regular Meeting was attended by the Vice-Chancellors of all Technical Universities in Ghana, along with the Committee of Registrars and Directors of Finance (DoFs). It served as a critical platform for these academic and administrative leaders to discuss the most pressing issues in technical education, such as governance, strategic partnerships, and the financial sustainability of Technical Universities in Ghana.

The VCTU-G expressed its deep appreciation to the LOC for their diligent progress so far, and urged them to makes efforts to enhance the visibility of Technical Universities and the conference within the set timelines.

The 2026 ARCTUG will be the 4th edition after successive editions at Ho Technical University (HTU) in 2020, Accra Technical University (ATU) in 2022, and Sunyani Technical University (STU) in 2024.
