Prof. Hamidatu Darimani was officially installed as the first female Vice-Chancellor of Dr. Hilla Limann Technical University in a ceremony presided over by Prof. Fobil, Chancellor of the University. The event was attended by distinguished guests, including Dr. Rashid Hassan Pelpuo, Minister of Labour, Jobs and Employment; Prof. Ahmed Jinapor Abdulai, Director-General of the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC); Vice-Chancellors of other institutions; as well as members of the academic community, university staff, students, and other stakeholders.

The ceremony also featured the University’s 7th Congregation Ceremony, where students were awarded certificates in recognition of their academic achievements at the forecourt of the Library Complex.

Prof. Darimani, addressing the gathering, expressed her gratitude and excitement at the milestone, saying: “It is an honour to serve as the first female Vice-Chancellor of this great institution. I am committed to promoting academic excellence, innovation, and inclusivity while ensuring that our students have access to the best learning environment possible.” She added, “This historic moment is not just for me, but for every woman aspiring to lead in higher education in Ghana.”

In addition to her appointment, the University recently received approval from GTEC for a 400-bed student hostel project. The sod-cutting ceremony was held on 12 December 2025, led by Lawyer Charles Lwanga Puozuing, Upper West Regional Minister, and is expected to be completed within 18 months. Prof. Darimani commented on the project: “The new hostel will significantly improve accommodation for our students, ensuring that they can focus on their studies in a safe and supportive environment. This is part of our broader commitment to improving facilities at Dr. Hilla Limann Technical University.”
