Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) emerged from the 2025 GHATUSA Games in Cape Coast not just with medals, but with pride, purpose, and a renewed sporting spirit. With an impressive haul of 4 gold, 4 silver, and 4 bronze medals, the university claimed fifth place overall among the ten participating technical universities

While the fifth-place finish was not what the university had anticipated, the performance remains a proud moment and a stepping stone for greater accomplishments ahead. The Vice Chancellor, Professor Gabriel Dwomoh, lauded the student athletes for their remarkable effort, describing it as a “commendable show of dedication and resilience.” He noted that the medal count reflected more than just numbers. It symbolized the grit, passion, and potential of a university steadily charting its path to sporting excellence.

“We are proud of our athletes’ dedication,” said Prof Dwomoh. “This strong showing lays a solid foundation for even greater success in future competitions. Compared to other participating universities, our performance speaks of fierce competitiveness and a resilient spirit.”

KsTU’s way to the medal podium was marked by standout moments, from powerful sprints and tactical team efforts to unwavering determination in the face of stiff competition. Whether on the track, field, or court, the athletes displayed unity and tenacity, earning respect from fans and rivals alike.

Looking ahead, Prof Dwomoh emphasized the university’s commitment to investing in training and athlete development, with the goal of climbing even higher in future GHATUSA Games.

“This is just the beginning,” he affirmed. “With continued support and the right structures in place, KsTU is poised to rise even higher. Our students have shown what is possible when talent meets opportunity.”

With eyes now set on the next edition of the Games at Sunyani Technical University (STU) in 2027, the university community remains hopeful for an even stronger performance,  building on the lessons and triumphs of Cape Coast 2025.

As the sun sets on the 2025 Games, Kumasi Technical University carries home more than medals. It carries a story of effort rewarded, dreams awakened, and a future in sports that looks brighter than ever.
