Accra, Ghana – Thursday, 18th April 2025

A distinguished delegation of Vice Chancellors from Ghana’s Technical Universities visited the JA Plant Pool Ghana Ltd. workshop in Accra, representing a key development in advancing technical and engineering education in the country. This visit, hosted by Guangxi LiuGong Machinery Co. Ltd. (LiuGong) and JA Plant Pool Ghana Ltd., was pivotal in formalising a strategic collaboration aimed at transforming technical training in Ghana.

The central focus of the high-level meeting was the establishment of the LiuGong–JA Plant Pool–LZPU International Training Centre in Ghana. This groundbreaking partnership involves LiuGong, Liuzhou Polytechnic University (LZPU), JA Plant Pool, and Ghana’s Technical Universities, with the objective of creating a world-class training facility dedicated to hands-on training in construction and heavy equipment engineering. This initiative is designed to enhance the skills of students, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and industrial practice, and positioning Ghana as a leader in technical education within the region.

As part of the collaboration, LiuGong, alongside JA Plant Pool, will provide the infrastructure, machinery, and industrial placement opportunities, while Ghana’s Technical Universities will ensure that the training programmes comply with the country’s academic standards and accreditation requirements. The partnership is poised to significantly improve the quality of technical education in Ghana, equipping students with the skills needed to thrive in the global industry.

The Vice Chancellors were given an exclusive tour of the JA Plant Pool facilities, guided by Deng Jiewu, Co-director of LiuGong West Africa. The tour also included key representatives from LiuGong and JA Plant Pool, such as Tang Qiuxin (Aftermarket Management Assistant, LiuGong Africa), Xu Bingjan (Aftermarket Management Assistant, LiuGong Africa), and Tony Zhang Kun Tao (Co-director, LiuGong Overseas).

The tour featured live demonstrations of equipment calibration, diagnostics, and vehicle assembly in the workshop, as well as a visit to the machinery showroom. This hands-on experience provided the Vice Chancellors with a comprehensive understanding of the machinery and operations, further solidifying the partnership’s potential to reshape technical training in Ghana.

The Vice Chancellors in attendance included Sir Prof. Elias N. K. Sowley from Dr. Hilla Limann Technical University, Prof. Kwadwo Adinkrah-Appiah from Sunyani Technical University, Prof. Gabriel Dwomoh from Kumasi Technical University, Prof. Bashiru Imoro Ibn Saeed from Tamale Technical University, Prof. Kwaku Ayim A. Boakye from Cape Coast Technical University, and Mr. Joseph Mensah Oti-Asirifi, the Executive Secretary of VCTU-G.
