
Ing. Professor Kwadwo Adinkrah-Appiah
Vice-Chancellor, Sunyani Technical University
Ing. Professor Kwadwo Adinkrah-Appiah, the Vice-Chancellor of Sunyani Technical University, Ghana, was born on 9th June, 1969 at Atuna in the Jaman South District of the Bono Region. He is a Professional Civil Engineer and an erudite professor, with more than 20 years’ experience in industry and academia, having obtained his BSc., MPhil and PhD Degrees from KNUST, Kumasi, Ghana, in 1998, 2006 and 2015 respectively. He has authored several research publications, one of which led to the introduction of the ‘Salancrete building block’ for sustainable building construction in Ghana, which won the Ghana Institution of Engineering’s (GhIE) Engineering Excellence Award in the ‘Most Innovative Research of the Year Category’ in 2016.
Ing. Prof. Kwadwo Adinkrah-Appiah has far-reaching experience in teaching and tertiary institutional administration, having served as Head of Department, Dean, Vice-Rector, Rector and Vice-Chancellor at the Sunyani Technical University since the year 2007.
He is the current Chairman of the National TVET Qualifications Framework Committee of the Commission for TVET (CTVET) in Ghana and Executive Member of the Association of Technical Universities and Polytechnics in Africa (ATUPA), representing Technical Universities. He has also chaired and served on several other boards and committees as well as research and public lecture sections within and outside the Sunyani Technical University. He is an ardent member of several Professional Associations including the Ghana Institution of Engineering (GhIE), American Concrete Institute (ACI) and American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). He is an Elder of the Church of Pentecost and is married with five children.
